STF destroys Rs. 2m Cannabis plantation in Thanamalwila

Police Special Task Force personnel operating from the Buttala camp uncovered and incinerated a cannabis plantation in Thanamalwila estimated to be worth upwards of Rs. 2 million.

Acting on intelligence gathered by the Army Intelligence Unit, the specialized officers swooped down on the concealed cultivation site, where a dense crop of cannabis plants spanning various stages of growth was discovered.

As law enforcement closed in on the location, the individuals overseeing the operation managed to escape the scene prior to apprehension.

Authorities proceeded to set fire to the entire illicit harvest, completely destroying the valuable crop on-site.

Inquiries into the abandoned cultivation are actively being pursued by the Buttala STF camp to track down those responsible.
