Presidential Secretary calls for immediate action to ease PAYE tax pressure

Secretary to the President Dr Nandika Sanath Kumanayake has highlighted the urgent necessity to reduce the heavy Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE) tax burden currently placed on the public, asserting that the situation requires swift rectification.


Addressing the 21st Annual General Conference of the Association of Inland Revenue Commissioners in Colombo, Dr Kumanayake also emphasised the importance of modernising Sri Lanka's Inland Revenue Department to match the standards seen in developed nations.


The event brought together several prominent figures, including Deputy Minister of Economic Development Nishantha Jayaweera and Inland Revenue Commissioner General R.P.H. Fernando.
