Official gross reserves climb 4.6%

Sri Lanka gross official reserve assets increased by 4.6% to 6,905 million dollars by the end of August 2026, latest data from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka shows.

This value was recorded at 6,600 million dollars at the end of July.

Foreign currency reserves, serving as the main component of these reserve assets, increased by 5.1% during August, rising from 6,368 million dollars to 6,690 million dollars.

Central Bank gold reserves achieved a notable growth of 9.5% during August, increasing from 192 million dollars to 210 million dollars.
