Janaka Bandara Thennakoon arrested

A former minister and parliamentarian Janaka Bandara Tennakoon has been arrested by the CID today.

Police Media Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekera said that the MP was arrested in connection with shooting a person to death and injuring another at Dambulgamuwa neighborhood in Matale on December 14^th 1999.

MP Tennakoon was earlier informed to report to the CID yesterday.

He ignored the CID call and instead admitted to a private hospital last evening.

The Police Media Spokesman said that the CID arrested MP Janaka Bandara Tennakoon in connection with the alleged murder.

Janaka Bandara arrested  

Former Minister MP Janaka Bandara Tennakoon has been arrested today by the CID. His son, Central Provincial Council Minister Pramitha Bandara Tennakoon revealed to Hiru News that his father was arrested while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo. He added that the apprehension was regarding a murder case which had occurred in 1999.
