
A drive by shooting took place this afternoon in Meetiyagoda, targeting a individual suspected of being tied to the murder of Rathgama Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Manoj Mendis.
The Police Media Spokesmans office stated that the two assailants who were riding a motor cycle opened fire with a T-56 but they missed their target.
Rathgama Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Manoj Mendis was shot dead on March 23, last year in Hikkaduwa.
Veranga Lakshan, who was arrested on suspicion of being involved in the case, was later released on bail.
