Sri Lanka Navy stated that the ship that is on fire is carrying Chemicals that was on route to Colombo from a Port in Gujarat, India which is currently 6 nautical miles off of the coast in Bopitiya area of Colombo.
Two Dvoras and two ships were deployed by the SL Navy to douse the fire.

The Navy Media Spokesman stated that the Sri Lanka Navy and the Sri Lanka Ports Authority are currently taking action to douse the fire that broke out on a ship anchored near the Colombo Port.
The fire broke out aboard an 'MV X-Press Pearl' container ship anchored six nautical miles off the coast of Colombo.
