The funeral of veteran singer, musician and actor Lakshman Wijesekera will be held at the Mount Lavinia Public Cemetery tomorrow (14) at 5 pm.
Lakshman Wijesekera who was ill for a long time passed away yesterday (12) at the age of 73.
He studied music at the Government College of Music and passed the SLBC radio song test in 1975. He started his film career with the film Priyanga.
Prior to that he had acted in the stage dramas Wessanthara and Nelum Pokuna and was popular for his lead roles in the teledramas Rekha as well as Ganga and Nissanka.
Lakshman Wijesekera was also the music director of many popular teledramas such as 'Bumuthurunu' and 'Atta Bindai'.
Among the many songs he sang "Delvu Pahan", "Athi de Athi Satiyen", "Supen Hengum Oben Epa", "Sina Pipena Me Wasanthaya" were some that became very popular.
