SOUTHERN EXPRESSWAY SERVICE AREA LEASED FOR NOMINAL FEE; SCHOLARSHIP EXAM TO CONTINUE UNTIL 2029

The service area located in Welipenna on the Southern Expressway has been leased out for a 99-year period for a mere Rs. 10,000, Leader of the House, Minister Bimal Rathnayake, revealed in Parliament today, the 20th of June.

This revelation came while responding to an oral question from MP Rohitha Abeygunawardena regarding the planned Pelpola Interchange in Millaniya.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Madura Seneviratne, stated that no changes will be made to the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination until 2029. He made this announcement in response to a question raised by MP Dayasiri Jayasekara.
