The carcass of a large marine animal, believed to be a "sea cow," has washed ashore in the Thirupullani area on the southern coast of Mannar.
The body was discovered this morning, September 20.
The animal is estimated to be around eight years old, weighing approximately 300 kilograms with a circumference of 2.30 metres.
Environmentalists suspect the animal may have died after being hit by a fishing vessel.
