
Underworld figure Kehelbaddara Padme, a suspect now in Criminal Investigation Department (CID)’s custody, has revealed of using a popular beverage's name as code on his mobile phone.
Revealing several key details during his interrogation by the Western North Crime Division at the Colombo Port Police, he has also said that the name was a codeword for cocaine.
During the interrogation, he revealed plans for the murders of Ganemulla Sanjeewa and Gampaha Pas Podda.
Padme also admitted to assisting in the attempted murder of Gampaha Osman, stating that he provided aid at the request of ‘Thammita Avishka’ and ‘Commando Salintha,’ despite not having the intention to kill Osman himself.
During questioning, he admitted trafficking a variety of drugs in Sri Lanka, including cocaine, heroin, ice, kush, and cannabis.
Regarding firearms, Padme claimed that the police have already recovered all his weapons except for one, which he is now willing to hand over.
While Padme stated that he entered the criminal underworld after his father's murder, investigators found that he had already killed a person named ‘Pas Chami’ before his father's death.
The investigation also revealed that Ganemulla Sanjeewa had killed Padme's father as an act of revenge.
