The 'work-to-rule' trade union action by Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) employees has been ongoing for 19 days, yet no responsible government official or minister has offered to hold discussions, according to Dhanushka Parakramasinghe, an executive committee member of the CEB Engineers' Union.
He stated that although the chairman of the board offered to meet last Saturday, the unions chose not to attend as outside parties were present. Parakramasinghe added that there was no need for a new meeting with the chairman, as they could meet with him at any time.
As a result, the 'work-to-rule' campaign will continue. The electricity trade unions plan to meet in the coming days to discuss and decide on the future course of their trade union action.
