Cabinet Media Spokesman Minister Nalinda Jayatissa stated that no one should panic, as the connections between the widespread drug network and both the security and political sectors are in the process of being uncovered.
The minister made these comments during a press briefing on cabinet decisions, in response to journalists who demanded that the names of politicians involved with the drug network be revealed.
"Following the arrest of Sampath Manamperi, his revelations have led to the discovery of some weapons. We are continuing to act on that information. So, you must wait and watch with confidence. The political connections to this will be systematically revealed in the future."
The Police Media Spokesperson, who was also present, added that if any names were to be revealed at this stage, it would hinder the remaining investigative work.
