Two individuals were injured after their car was hit by a train at the Kongas Junction railway crossing in Waskaduwa, Kalutara.
The two were trapped inside the car following the collision and were rescued by local residents who then took them to the hospital.
Police suspect the driver may have ignored the automated railway safety lights at the crossing, leading to the incident.
Kalutara North Police are conducting further investigations.
