The 66th commemoration of the late former Prime Minister S. W. R. D. Bandaranaike was held this morning (26) at the Bandaranaike Samadhi in Horagolla.
The ceremony also honoured the memory of the late Prime Minister Sirimavo Bandaranaike and Anura Bandaranaike.
A number of politicians attended the event, although former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga was unable to attend due to illness.
Speaking at the commemoration, Senior Vice President of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and former Minister Mahinda Amaraweera pledged to work towards making the SLFP a stronger party among the people once again.
