A 24-year-old man died yesterday (06) after being trapped under a concrete mixing machine while working on a two-story building in Kalutara.
The victim, identified by police as Welivita Mudalige Vishwa Prabuddha, was a resident of Halkandavila, Payagala.
According to police reports, the young man was on the second floor of the site using the machine to hoist cement mortar when the equipment suddenly gave way.
He fell to the ground floor along with the machinery and was subsequently pinned beneath it.
Co-workers rushed him to the Kalutara Teaching Hospital with severe injuries, where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigators noted that the incident was captured on nearby CCTV cameras.
