The Sri Lanka Police observed a false post circulating on social media claiming to be an official notification titled "Awareness by the Sri Lanka Police Department".
Official public awareness messages are only issued by the Police Media Division through formal press releases on official letterheads. Daily updates and necessary public messages are also shared via the official Sri Lanka Police Facebook page and YouTube channel.
Authorities are taking steps to investigate whether the circulation of this misleading information is a planned act by an individual or a group. The Sri Lanka Police urges the public to remain vigilant and act intelligently regarding the content of such social media posts.
