Principals in the Tangalle Education Zone must provide reasons by tomorrow (26) as to why teachers failed to attend a meeting held on Sunday the 15th, which featured Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya.
Tangalle Education Director W.A.S.D. Kalyani issued this written directive despite today (25) being a special government holiday declared due to the ongoing energy crisis.
Significant teacher absenteeism during the meeting held at the Tangalle Town Hall and Pradeshiya Sabha had previously drawn media attention.
The Education Office had officially notified staff to attend the event, and the Director now seeks clarification from all school heads regarding the non-participation of their staff members.
