Investigating officers from the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption arrested three officials employed at the Department of Motor Traffic today (26) on several charges, including the fraudulent registration of multiple motor vehicles.
A former Development Assistant (Road Safety) was taken into custody on charges of entering data to facilitate the illegal transfer of three vehicles that lacked legitimate original registrations.
A former Investigation Assistant was arrested for allegedly issuing counter numbers to enable the illegal transfer of those three unregistered vehicles.
A former Assistant Commissioner was also apprehended on charges of granting approval for the illegal transfer of the three vehicles that did not have lawful original registrations.
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption stated that the arrested suspects are scheduled to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court.
