Amith Weerasinghe, the leader of the Abhinawa Niwahal Peramuna, was taken into custody by the Kandy Police Children and Women’s Bureau today (28).
Police arrested him following reports of unruly behaviour within the station premises. He originally arrived at the Children and Women’s Bureau to face investigations regarding an alleged assault on a woman.
The complainant works as an employee at his office, according to police reports. Investigations continue under the direction of Deputy Inspector General of Police for the Central Province, Sudath Masinghe.
