Showers or thundershowers are forecasted in many areas of the island after approximately 1:00 p.m. today (24), according to a statement from the Department of Meteorology.
Heavy rainfalls exceeding 75 mm may develop in certain locations within the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western, and Southern provinces.
Coastal regions of the Southern province and the Kalutara district may experience morning showers as well.
Additionally, misty conditions are expected during the early hours in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, North-Central, and Uva provinces, as well as the Vavuniya and Kurunegala districts.
The department urges the public to take necessary precautions to minimise risks from lightning and temporary strong winds that may accompany thundershowers.
