A comprehensive security operation is underway in major cities across the island, including Colombo, to ensure public safety during the Vesak festival.
Police Media Spokesperson Assistant Superintendent of Police F.U. Wootler stated that authorities deployed over one thousand police officers specifically to secure the capital city.
Organisers set up numerous pandols, Vesak zones, and dhansal throughout the country in celebration of the festival.
Meanwhile, Public Health Inspectors Association Editor Anura Thilakasiri urged all dhansal organisers to focus heavily on food safety and hygiene standards while serving the public.
