In conjunction with the Hiru Shakya Sinha Mangalya, all arrangements have been completed to commence the “Hiru Uththama Dathu Wandana ” (Sacred Relic Veneration), dedicated to the upliftment of the Buddha Sasana, featuring the veneration of the Kapilavastu sacred relic of the Buddha, at the historic Mahiyangana Raja Maha Viharaya premises starting tomorrow (31).
The event is scheduled to be held at the historic Mahiyangana Raja Maha Viharaya premises until the morning of the 2nd of next month, providing devotees with a rare opportunity considered equivalent to venerating the living Buddha.
The Hiru Uththama Dathu Wandana, which facilitates the bringing of the Kapilavastu sacred relic of the Buddha to the sacred sites of Sri Lanka for veneration by thousands of devotees, is a concept initiated by Hiru Media Network Chairman Rayynor Silva.
For this year’s Hiru Uththama Dathu Wandana, the ritual religious observances for the Kapilavastu sacred relic were conducted today at the Waskaduwa Sri Subhuthi Viharaya under the patronage of Venerable Waskaduwe Mahindawansa Thera, Chief Prelate of the Amarapura Sambuddha Sasana Udaya Nikaya.
Accordingly, devotees will have the opportunity to venerate both the Kapilavastu sacred relic and the alms bowl relic of Lord Buddha at the Mahiyangana Raja Maha Viharaya premises starting tomorrow.
The sacred casket containing the Kapilavastu sacred relic will be ceremonially placed in a specially constructed relic chamber at the Mahiyangana Raja Maha Viharaya premises at an auspicious time at 7:30 a.m. tomorrow, accompanied by ceremonial drums and floral offerings.
This will be done by Hiru Media Network Chairman Rayynor Silva amidst chants of blessings.
At this location as well, following ritual observances conducted in a manner similar to offerings made to a living Buddha, devotees will be given the opportunity to participate in the Hiru Uththama Dathu Wandana.
The Hiru Uththama Dathu Wandana, which will commence in this manner, will continue to be open for veneration by devotees at the historic Mahiyangana Raja Maha Viharaya premises until the morning of the 2nd of next month.
All facilities for the thousands of devotees participating in the Kapilavastu sacred relic veneration have been organised by the Hiru Media Network, and breakfast for devotees on the following day will also be arranged by Hiru Media Network Chairman Rayynor Silva.
