The case filed by the Bribery Commission against former Mayor of the Moratuwa Municipal Council, Saman Lal Fernando, over allegations of corruption has been fixed to be recalled on August 28 by Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama today (12).
The Magistrate also ordered the Bribery Commission to conclude investigations and submit a further report on the matter.
The accused is alleged to have caused a loss to the government by making payments to his associates in violation of financial regulations, under the 'Maga Neguma' Urban and Rural Roads Development Project, involving payments related to 112 development contracts of the Moratuwa Municipal Council. The suspect has already been released on bail in connection with the case.
