Five bus drivers and conductors who were under the influence of narcotics were arrested during a special operation in Horana.
The Horana Headquarters Police confirmed the arrests following a special screening conducted in Horana town.
The National Transport Medical Institute, affiliated with the Ministry of Transport, collaborated with the Horana Police to test 151 drivers and conductors operating both Sri Lanka Transport Board and private buses originating from Horana town.
The special screening aimed to prevent mishaps caused by driving under the influence of narcotics and to ensure passenger safety.
The arrested suspects will be produced before the court.
