The Court of Appeal is scheduled to reconsider the writ application filed by former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa today (18), seeking an order to prevent his arrest in connection with investigations into the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks.
The Court of Appeal President rescheduled the matter for support today, when the petition was taken up yesterday (17).
Meanwhile, the Attorney General informed the court that he had not received any instructions from the respondents regarding the petition filed by the former President.
When the case was called yesterday, Judge Priyantha Fernando recused himself from the matter, citing personal reasons.
Deputy Solicitor General Suharshi Herath, appearing for the respondents, informed the court that an undertaking cannot be given about not arresting the petitioner without receiving instructions from the respondents.
Further proceedings are scheduled for today.
