The Cabinet of Ministers approved a proposal presented by the Prime Minister in her capacity as the Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education to issue a new circular containing provisions and instructions regarding the admission of children to grade one in government schools from the upcoming year 2027 onwards.
Circular instructions regarding the admission of children to grade one in government schools are issued annually, and the objective is to provide the necessary provisions to operate with transparency and minimise irregularities, ensuring equitable access to opportunities in education.
The new circular was prepared by taking into account the views and suggestions of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka, school principals, and education authorities, whilst also focusing on new education reforms.
