President reviews paddy purchasing plan for Yala season

President Anura Kumara Dissanayaka emphasised that maintaining buffer stocks of paddy is essential based on future climatic conditions that may occur.

The President pointed out that this process is a matter that should receive special attention.

The President stated this during a discussion held yesterday (23) regarding paddy purchasing plans for the Yala season.

Meanwhile, the President pointed out that it is a problem that the stocks of paddy purchased during the Yala season last year are still not adequately directed to the market.

The President's Media Division stated that the President inquired about the steps taken to release the relevant warehouses and the proposals for that purpose.

On this occasion, the President instructed officials of the Ministry of Finance to allocate the necessary provisions to purchase paddy in the Yala season, and the condition of warehouses existing at the district level was also taken into discussion.
