Court freezes vehicles allegedly linked to drug money

The Colombo Magistrate's Court today issued a freezing order on three vehicles, valued at approximately Rs.5 million, suspected to have been acquired through drug trafficking by a woman residing in the Kelanimulla area in Angoda.




The order followed a request made by the Illegal Assets Investigation Division. According to the Police Media Division, the Illegal Assets Investigation Division initiated an investigation based on a complaint alleging that a female resident of Kelanimulla North, Angoda, earned assets through drug trafficking.




Investigations revealed that two three-wheelers, valued at around Rs.2 million, were purchased under the names of the suspect and a close associate using money earned from drug trafficking.




Additionally, it was uncovered that a bus valued at approximately Rs.3 million was purchased under the name of the suspect's son.




After the facts were reported to Court Number 08 of the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court, freezing orders regarding the relevant property were issued until the 14th of this month.
