Verdict in easter attack case against Former Defence Secretary and IGP due today

The verdict in the case filed against former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara is scheduled to be delivered today (31).

The two former senior officials have been accused of criminally failing to perform their duties by not taking adequate action to prevent the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks despite receiving prior intelligence warnings about the planned attacks.

The case was filed by the Attorney General, and the verdict will be announced before a three-member bench of the Colombo High Court.

The trial against Hemasiri Fernando and Pujith Jayasundara was concluded recently, with the court set to deliver its decision today.
