Three individuals suspected of involvement in organised crime are scheduled for extradition to Sri Lanka today under a high-security operation. Among the detainees is “Ratmalana Saima,” identified as a key associate of alleged crime figure Kanjipani Imran.
The international operation was conducted through joint coordination between Interpol, Malaysian Police, and a Sri Lankan police team comprising Assistant Superintendent of Police Rohan Olugala, Director of the Walana Anti-Corruption Force, and ASP Wasantha Pitiyakumbura of the Legal Division. Upon arrival, the suspects will be transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department for further questioning.
Investigators state that “Ratmalana Saima” operated as a major coordinator for drug distribution and criminal activities linked to Kanjipani Imran. Authorities report he amassed substantial wealth through illicit narcotics operations, acquiring multiple commercial properties including a 5-storey hotel in Thailand.
Officials indicate the arrest delivers a major setback to organized crime and drug operations associated with Imran in Malaysia. The arrests follow a multi-week intelligence operation launched after ASP Rohan Olugala and ASP Wasantha Pitiyakumbura deployed to Malaysia. Working via the Sri Lankan Embassy alongside local law enforcement and Interpol, investigators located and apprehended the suspects.
