The foundation stone laying ceremony to construct resting and net repair halls for the benefit of fishermen in Karaitivu, Periyanilavanai, and Ninthavur areas of Ampara District was held recently under the patronage of Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources Ramalingam Chandrasekar.
The project is implemented by the Ministry of Fisheries with the objective of providing basic infrastructure required for them while taking into consideration the daily occupational needs of fishermen, the Ministry mentioned.
Accordingly, Rs. 24 million is allocated for the hall planned to be constructed in the Periyanilavanai area, while Rs. 22 million each is allocated for the halls scheduled to be constructed in Karaitivu and Ninthavur areas.
