22nd Constitutional Amendment Bill to be presented in Parliament today

The 22nd Constitutional Amendment Bill, brought to extend the retirement age of judges and the Judicature (Amendment) Bill are scheduled for presentation to Parliament today (18).

Inclusion in the parliamentary order paper is already complete.

These bills were published via gazette on the 7th.

Meanwhile, judicial action is planned against the 22nd Constitutional Amendment Bill, as decided during a meeting of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya parliamentary group at the opposition leader's office yesterday.

Additionally, a petitioning process in the Supreme Court to challenge the constitutionality of the relevant bill is expected, according to a statement made by Pivithuru Hela Urumaya leader Udaya Gammanpila while attending a media briefing in Colombo yesterday.
