Several spells of showers may occur in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts, the Department of Meteorology says in a statement.
The statement notes that a few showers may occur in the North Western province.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Ampara, Monaragala, and Batticaloa districts after 2:00 p.m.
Mainly dry weather conditions prevail in the remaining areas of the island.
Fairly strong winds of about 30–40 km/h can occur at times on the western slopes of the central hills, in the Northern, North Central, Central, and North Western provinces, and in the Trincomalee and Hambantota districts, and the department requests the public to take necessary steps to minimise dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thundershowers.
