Missing Badulla doctor found dead in Mahiyanganaya

The body of an anaesthetist who served at the Badulla Teaching Hospital, who was missing, was found this morning (24) during a search operation, Mahiyanganaya Police said.

Police commenced investigations based on information received regarding a motor car abandoned near the Viyana Canal in the Mapakada 17th Post area in Mahiyanganaya.

After identifying that the motor car parked at that location since last night (23) belonged to the missing doctor, residents and police together launched a search operation.

The doctor's body was found in a jungle patch near where the vehicle was parked, and police stated that a type of medicine tablets was also found near the body.

Mahiyanganaya Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
