Army Commander visits family of Parama Weera Vibhushanaya recipient Sergeant A. M. Anura

Army Commander Lieutenant General Nilantha Premaratne recently visited the residence of Sergeant A. M. Anura, who was awarded the Parama Weera Vibhushanaya, to inquire about the well-being of his family.


Sergeant A. M. Anura of the 7th Sinha Regiment sustained severe injuries during an operation in the Periyathampane area on 11 November 2007.


Despite his grave injuries at the time, he encouraged the members of his team and motivated them to push forward with the operation.


He later succumbed to his injuries, sacrificing his life for the nation. Sergeant Anura was awarded the Parama Weera Vibhushanaya in recognition of his gallantry and heroic actions on the battlefield.


The Commander of the Army met Sergeant Anura's wife, P. Sunanda Wijelatha, along with his daughter and son, at their residence in Maradankadawala.


During the visit, the Army Commander instructed the relevant authorities to identify and promptly provide any required welfare facilities and other needs of the family.
