A person died last night (30) after being caught in a fire that broke out in a chena field in the Buluwa Matihakka area of the Kandaketiya police division, Kandaketiya Police said.
The deceased in this incident is a 73-year-old resident of the Kandaketiya area.
Police also said that an investigation into the incident has been commenced based on information received.
The corpse is currently kept at the scene under police protection, and Kandaketiya Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
