Retired Air Vice Marshal Thushara Idunil Fernando of the Sri Lanka Air Force assumed duties as the new Commissioner General of the Department of Motor Traffic today.
The new Commissioner General commenced his official duties this morning at the head office of the Department of Motor Traffic located on Elvitigala Mawatha, Colombo 05.
Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways Doctor Prasanna Gunasena also attended the event.
The newly appointed Commissioner General began his duties following religious observances conducted by the Maha Sangha, led by the Chief Incumbent of the Hunupitiya Gangaramaya Temple in Colombo, Most Venerable Kirinde Asaji Thera.
