Five arrested over illegal antiquities excavation

Five suspects who carried out excavations with the intention of searching for antiquities were arrested.

Hingurakgoda Police stated that the group was taken into custody during a raid conducted yesterday (06) afternoon in the Thalpotha area in Hingurakgoda.

It was revealed that the suspects, aged 19, 26, 45, 47, and 49, are residents of Polonnaruwa and Pulasthigama.

Hingurakgoda Police are conducting further investigations regarding the incident.
