Agrovista Plantation launches ‘One million trees for the Motherland by 2030’ initiative

Agrovista Plantation has launched an ambitious environmental initiative titled ‘One million trees for the Motherland by 2030’, reaffirming the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible corporate citizenship through its Corporate Social Responsibility programmes.

The programme, which was launched in 2024, aims to plant one million trees across Sri Lanka by 2030. Demonstrating strong early progress, Agrovista Plantation said it has already surpassed the milestone of planting 250,000 trees in several regions of the country.

A key focus of the initiative is the active involvement of the younger generation, particularly schoolchildren, in environmental conservation efforts. Under the programme, Agrovista Plantation provides the necessary support, resources and guidance to encourage students to plant trees, nurture them and take responsibility for protecting them as they grow.

By engaging school communities in the initiative, the company hopes to instil environmental awareness and a sense of responsibility towards nature among young people, encouraging them to develop a lifelong commitment to protecting the environment.

The ‘One million trees for the Motherland by 2030’ project also reflect Agrovista Plantation’s broader vision of contributing to climate resilience, biodiversity conservation and the creation of greener landscapes across Sri Lanka. Through sustained tree planting and community engagement, the company aims to make a long-term positive impact on the country’s natural environment.

Agrovista Plantation has also invited individuals, organisations, schools and well-wishers to join the initiative by supporting tree planting activities, donating plants or partnering with the company to expand green cover across the country.
