Inflation escalates to 7.3% in July

Department of Census and Statistics stated that the overall inflation rate measured by the Colombo Consumer Price Index increased to 7.3 percent in July 2026.

This represents a 0.5 percentage point increase compared to 6.8 percent recorded in June.

Food inflation increased significantly from 3.6 percent in June to 6.3 percent in July.

Non-food inflation decreased from 8.4 percent in June to 7.8 percent in July.
