Sri Lanka will host the SEARIC Summit 2026 from 11 to 13 September, marking the first time the country will host the flagship regional gathering of the South East Asia Rotaract Information Centre Multi District Information Organization (SEARIC MDIO).
Hosted by Rotaract in Rotary International District 3220 – Sri Lanka and Maldives, the summit is expected to bring together more than 500 delegates from Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates, providing a platform for young leaders from across Asia to connect, exchange knowledge and explore opportunities for collaboration.
The SEARIC MDIO serves as a regional platform connecting Rotaract districts across Asia, facilitating collaboration, information exchange, cultural understanding and joint initiatives. Its network extends across Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Timor-Leste, Sri Lanka and Maldives, with the annual SEARIC Summit serving as its key gathering for leadership, fellowship, knowledge exchange and regional engagement
The 2026 summit will be held under the theme “The Role of Technology in the Future of Careers and Services,” focusing on how emerging technologies are transforming careers and leadership, while examining how technology can be harnessed to strengthen community service. The programme will feature leadership and professional development sessions, discussions, networking, cultural experiences and service-focused activities.
Adding an international development dimension to the summit, United Nations Volunteers Sri Lanka, in connection with the International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development 2026, has partnered with SEARIC Summit Sri Lanka 2026 to promote the theme “Volunteering for People & Planet”. This is following the United Nations General Assembly proclaiming 2026 as the International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development, recognising volunteerism as a means of advancing the Sustainable Development Goals and encouraging greater recognition, integration and support for volunteer action.
Rotaract, a youth-led movement under Rotary International, is a global network of young people committed to leadership, service and fellowship across more than 180 countries and geographical areas with over 200,000 Rotaractors worldwide in over 10,000 Rotaract Clubs. Sri Lanka currently ranks 8th globally in Rotaract membership and holds the distinction of having the highest average membership per club worldwide, reflecting the country's strong engagement with the movement.
