The Under 19 Division I Tier 'A' Inter-School Two-Day Cricket Tournament, organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association (SLSCA) under the sponsorship of Sri Lanka Cricket, will feature the participation of 18 teams.
The 18 teams, including the newly promoted Thurstan College, Colombo, and Mahinda College, Galle, will compete in the first round under a league system, divided into two groups.
In the first round of this two-day tournament, each team is allocated 8 matches. The top 4 teams from each group (a total of 8 teams) that perform well in the first round will qualify for the quarter-finals.
The first round (league stage) of this two-day tournament will conclude on January 31, 2026.
The matches from the quarter-finals up to the final of the tournament are scheduled to be played as three-day matches.
It has been made mandatory that 5 of these matches must be completed by December 31, 2025.
The quarter-final matches are expected to be held in the first week of February.
The SLSCA has decided to remove the mandatory condition that a player under the age of 15 must be included in the playing eleven—a rule that was enforced during the recently concluded One-Day Cricket Tournament—for this two-day tournament.
Last year, Royal College, Colombo, and St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa, were declared joint champions of the Division I Tier 'A' Inter-School Two-Day Cricket Tournament, while St. Joseph’s College, Colombo, and Trinity College, Kandy, qualified for the semi-finals.
Thurstan College, Colombo, and Mahinda College, Galle, who were the joint champions of the Division I Tier ‘B’ Two-Day Tournament last year, have been promoted to this year’s Division I Tier 'A' tournament.
Conversely, St. Benedict’s College, Kotahena, and Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala, who participated in last year’s Division I Tier 'A' One-Day Tournament, have been relegated to the Tier 'B' tournament this year.
