Fort Magistrate Isuru Nettikumara today (24) ordered the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to seek instructions from the Attorney General regarding the next steps in the case against actress Damitha Abeyratne. She is accused of defrauding an individual of Rs. 3 million by promising them jobs in Korea.
The court also ordered the CID to send the voice recordings of conversations between the complainant, Damitha Abeyratne, and her husband to the Government Analyst for a report. These orders were issued in response to a request made by the CID.
In a separate development, the court also ordered that the travel ban imposed on Damitha Abeyratne be lifted, following a request made by her legal counsel.
Damitha Abeyratne and her husband, Leslie Johnson, who were previously arrested and remanded in custody by the CID, are currently out on bail.
