The 27th Presidential Export Awards (PEA) ceremony, organised by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), will take place on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the BMICH. President Anura Kumara Dissanayake will be the Chief Guest, and over 1,500 guests, including Cabinet Ministers, diplomatic officials, government representatives, and exporters, are expected to attend.
The Presidential Export Award is the highest recognition presented by the President to Sri Lankan exporters who have made significant contributions to the country’s export sector and economic development. The awards aim to honor those who have played a pivotal role in Sri Lanka’s growth and international trade presence.
“This year, a total of 107 awards will be presented across two main categories, compared to 85 last year. On a suggestion from the media, the EDB has announced that a Start-Up category will be introduced from next year,” said EDB Chairman Mangala Wijesinghe.
Launched by the EDB in 1981, the program has held 26 award ceremonies to date. This year, a total of 107 awards will be presented across two main categories, up from 85 last year.
On a suggestion from the media, the EDB announced that a Start-Up category will be added from next year, expanding recognition for emerging businesses.
A panel of judges, headed by a retired Supreme Court Judge, will oversee the awards evaluation, with Ernst & Young (EY) serving as the “Knowledge Partner” for the Presidential Export Awards.
In line with the new government’s policy framework, strategies have been implemented to expand Sri Lanka’s exports, with expectations of significant growth in the coming period. Award recipients will receive a trophy or plaque and certificate and are entitled to use the Presidential Export Awards logo as a marketing tool for three years.
People’s Bank has joined the EDB as the Platinum Sponsor, while the Sri Lanka Tea Board (SLTB) and Sri Lanka Export Credit Insurance Corporation (SLECIC) serve as Silver Sponsors, supporting the initiative to promote and encourage exports from Sri Lanka.
