Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, North-Western, and Uva provinces, as well as the Ampara, Batticaloa, and Polonnaruwa districts after 1:00 p.m., according to the Department of Meteorology.

Rain or thundershowers might also occur during the morning in some areas of the Southern province and the Ampara, Batticaloa, and Monaragala districts. Meanwhile, heavy falls of about 75 mm are possible at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Southern provinces, and the Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts.

Mainly dry weather prevails in the rest of the island. Misty conditions will likely occur during the early morning in some parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, and Uva provinces, and the Galle, Matara, and Kalutara districts.

The Department of Meteorology requests the public to take necessary precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. As the sun moves northward, it remains directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka from April 05 to 15.

Consequently, the sun will be directly overhead today (12) at 12:11 p.m. over Cheddikulam, Kebithigollewa, Gomarankadawala, and Nilaveli.
