A discussion took place yesterday between President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and officials from the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) at the Presidential Secretariat.

The meeting focused on enhancing the potential of the department, specifically regarding the expansion of tax revenue, maximising tax compliance, and recovering outstanding taxes. Officials also reviewed the progress achieved by the department so far in 2026.

According to the Presidential Media Division, the restructuring and digitalisation processes required within the institution to achieve these objectives were discussed. Additionally, the conversation centred on the progress of the e-invoicing system implementation and its related legal provisions.

The President directed officials to complete the project within the specified timeframe.
