Sri Lanka has received a prestigious international award at the 2026 Commonwealth Debt Management Awards held in London, recognizing the country's public debt management reforms.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Finance, Sri Lanka's Public Debt Management Office (PDMO) was honored as the "Public Debt Management Office of the Year - Asia-Pacific."

The awards ceremony took place on March 26, 2026, at Marlborough House in London.

The Ministry highlighted that achieving this international recognition within just 15 months of establishing the PDMO is a significant milestone.

The award also recognised the successful transfer of domestic government securities auctioning responsibilities to the PDMO in December 2025—a function that had been managed by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka for 75 years.
