Four individuals, including two women, were arrested by the Galle Headquarters Police in connection with a brutal assault on a person named as a suspect in a property theft reported from the Galle police division, following footage of the incident circulating on social media networks, including Facebook.

Meanwhile, a 16-year-old youth residing in Dandenyakanda, Beralapanathara, was arrested regarding a theft.

He was produced before the Galle Magistrate's Court yesterday (03).

Acting on a complaint lodged with the Galle Headquarters Police by the mother of the 16-year-old suspect, stating that the party who complained regarding the theft brutally assaulted him, and based on video footage circulating on social media, the Galle Headquarters Police arrested the four suspects connected to the assault yesterday (03).

Those arrested in connection with the assault are members of the same family residing in the Milidduwa area in Galle, namely the 40-year-old initial complainant of the theft, her 47-year-old husband, their 17-year-old daughter, and their 19-year-old son.

The four suspects connected to the assault are scheduled to be produced before the Galle Magistrate's Court today (04), and the Galle Headquarters Police are conducting further investigations into the property theft as well as the brutal assault on the suspect.
