The Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) and the Automobile Industry Council (AIC) have formalised a strategic partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support the inaugural International Automobile Industry Awards 2026.

The event is being organised by the Automobile Industry Council in strategic collaboration with SLIM, the National Productivity Secretariat, the Emissions Test Trust Fund, and several industry stakeholders, marking a coordinated effort to recognise and promote excellence within Sri Lanka’s automotive sector.

Representing SLIM at the signing were SLIM President Enoch Perera, Secretary Nuwan Thilakawardhana, and Chief Executive Officer Chamil Wickremasinghe. The Automobile Industry Council was represented by Chairman Eng. Ravith Silva and Executive Secretary Hashini Senanayake.

SLIM President Enoch Perera said SLIM is proud to partner with the Automobile Industry Council in establishing a platform that recognises excellence, innovation, and leadership within one of Sri Lanka’s most important industries.

He added that the International Automobile Industry Awards 2026 reflects a shared commitment to elevating industry standards and recognising those who continue to drive growth and transformation across the sector.

The International Automobile Industry Awards 2026 will be the first dedicated awards platform in Sri Lanka designed to recognise achievements across the entire automobile ecosystem.

SLIM Vice President – Education and Research Manthika Ranasinghe noted that recognition serves as a catalyst for innovation, learning, and professional growth.

The awards programme has already generated strong interest from leading automobile brands and industry stakeholders, with participation from major players in the sector and nominations received from a wide range of individuals and organisations.

SLIM Vice President – Events and Sustainability Rajiv David said the awards are designed to be a credible and future focused platform reflecting the evolving nature of the industry.

He added that by recognising excellence, innovation, productivity, and leadership, the initiative aims to strengthen the sector while encouraging sustainable growth.
