A special meeting was held between contracted players of the Sri Lanka women’s national cricket team, the Sri Lanka A team, and the Under-19 women’s squad, along with Sri Lanka Cricket and the Cricket Transformation Committee.

The discussion was chaired by committee head Eran Wickramaratne and attended by members, including Prakash Schaffter, Sidath Wettimuny, Roshan Mahanama, and Kumar Sangakkara, along with President’s Counsel Upul Kumarapperuma, Avanthi Colombage, and Thushira Raddella.

SLC Chief Executive Officer Ashley de Silva and women’s team head coach Jamie Siddons were also present.

During the meeting, Chairperson Eran Wickramaratne praised the recent performances of the Sri Lanka women’s team, particularly their Asia Cup triumph, describing it as a “rewriting of Sri Lanka’s women’s cricket history.”

He further emphasised that women’s cricket should receive the same level of attention, opportunity, and support as the men’s game.

Senior cricketers Sidath Wettimuny, Kumar Sangakkara, and Roshan Mahanama also addressed the players, offering guidance on building successful careers both on and off the field, while highlighting that team spirit is the foundation of any achievement.

The committee also extended its best wishes to the national women’s team ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.
